Zakopane is becoming increasingly popular with foreign tourists. According to data from the Tatra Chamber of Commerce, seasonal preferences for visiting the Tatra Mountains vary depending on nationality. "Spring was very Lithuanian. In summer, Arab tourists dominated, and in autumn, Czechs and Slovaks," reports Karol Wagner in an interview with Gazeta Krakowska. He also reveals the type of tourists the city expects to see on Krupówki Street in November and December.

Zakopane for every season

The season in Zakopane lasts twelve months. Even in spring and autumn, vacancies fill up quickly, as owners tempt tourists with lower prices. During this time, in addition to Poles, Lithuanians can often be found on Krupówki Street and at the foot of Gubałówka Mountain. Later, when high temperatures in the Middle East prevent pleasant outdoor activities, Arab tourists flock to the capital of the Tatra Mountains. "Now it's autumn, which means it's the time of the Czechs and Slovaks," says Emilia Glista, an expert who works with hotels and guesthouses in the Podhale region. Hoteliers know exactly who will be arriving in just a few weeks.

There will certainly be no shortage of Hungarians

If you're planning a winter trip to Zakopane, you're sure to encounter Hungarians on the slopes, in shops, and restaurants. "They'll start appearing in November, peaking in December. Sales statistics from recent years show this is a consistent trend," Glista tells Gazeta Krakowska, and Karol Wagner of the Tatra Chamber of Commerce confirms this. "It's no longer a coincidence, but a recurring pattern," he says.

Lithuanians, Czechs, Slovaks, and Hungarians are primarily tempted by low prices. Furthermore, residents of Lithuania and Hungary cannot visit the high mountains in their own countries, so Poland naturally becomes an attractive destination. Besides the above-mentioned nations, Germans and Britons still enjoy Zakopane. Citizens of Asian countries who work in Poland and have heard from friends that it's worth visiting.
